Abingdon Border Collies’ ambassador to the breed was the ABCA border collie, Lonerider Nan, purchased in Booker, Texas from Roy Devers.

One of the top two-year olds in the nation at the Lonestar Futurity in Nacadoshis, Texas, Nan then went on to place third at the World Cow Dog Championship at three. Nan was a multi ASCA Trial Champion, achieved her ASCA Working Trial Champion in only 3 weekends, qualified for the USBCHA National Cattle Finals numerous times and won 10 Trial Championship buckles. Admired by spectators and stock dog competitors alike, this slick coated red and white border collie was recognized for her low profile and quick, powerful bite.

In 2005 Nan retired from trialing to become Brian’s right hand at the ranch and to raise pups. Nan produced some of our best working dogs, fast moving and quick biting pups that work well on cattle, with litters sired by Lex (Nap X Robin Nuffer's Sue.) In 2009 we decided to retire Nan from having puppies. Nan's final litter produced one female pup, Lexie, who is retained by Abingdon Border Collies. Nan is an integral part of our current working border collies’ pedigrees through her daughter Cookie. Sadly, in the summer of 2010 after a brief, courageous battle, Nan succumbed to cancer and is sorely missed.
